Combating Social Injustice Issues in America

I was fortunate enough to be tagged for a discussion about racism along with some very insightful minds.

You can check out the discussion here.

I participated in the second episode of the Holism For Advancement Roundtable hosted by Dr. Herman SJr. himself.

I've been fortunate enough to interview him a couple of times on T2Q and as he usually does, he dropped science on this topic as well.  His other guest, Miguel Conner, was amazing in establishing a base to some of the societal problems we endure as a country today.

So, please enjoy this discussion and share, share, share!  The world needs to hear more insightful opinions on race and not the same old babble and catch phrases.

@RaceyRules Returns 6/19!

Season 2 starts on June 19th!
YouTube provides quite a few entertaining series to follow.  Some of the shows that I follow regularly are: "Awkward Black Girl," "Mortal Kombat: Legacy," and "How Men Become Dogs."  However, my favorite, by far, is "The Unwritten Rules."

"UR" is a show about a young, black woman named "Racey" who struggles to fit into Corporate America.  Not being allowed to just simply exist within the workplace and do her job, Racey has to put up with white co-workers who are completely uncomfortable around black people.  They question her hair, food items and even her belief in Santa Claus.

And to make matters worse, she also has to deal with black co-workers who think she's somehow abandoned their race to fit into "White World."  Because Racey has a better position in the company than they do, she is treated as if she thinks that she's better than her black peers.

The show is shot in a style similar to "The Office" and is based on a book called "40 Hours and an Unwritten Rule" which was written by Kim Williams.  Kim also writes for the "UR" web series and does a great job sifting through a plot in six to eight minutes for each episode.  On top of it always being an interesting story, there is plenty of comedy to entertain you in the process.  However, what makes the show so addictive on top of the storyline is that the characters are likable.  Each one brings something different to the mix that makes the show unique and worth following.

I can personally relate to the show because I've been in some of the situations Racey experiences.  I've been the solo office black guy who is too white for my own people, but too black for white people to feel completely comfortable around.  I've had the insensitive boss who didn't have a clue when she's offended someone.  And I've had the nosy co-worker who acts like she's my friend yet secretly hates everything about me.  Even for the things I've never experienced personally, I've seen them played out over the course of a couple of decades in the workplace.

Check out a sample of the show to get a feel for it and I'm sure you'll like it enough to follow.  Take a few minutes and give this show a chance and I guarantee that you'll be a fan. It's less than six minutes long.  Here's the first episode:

Some of the cast from "UR," Aasha Davis (Racey), Sara Finley (Kathy) and David Lowe (Peter) will be my guests on the Talk 2 Q Radio Show for a special edition on Tuesday, June 18th at 8 PM EDT / 5 PM PDT.  Be sure to join the chat room and interact with some of talent Hollywood has to offer!

How to Get Famous 301

In 2010, it is not about if you're talented or not. It's all about if you are memorable.

Society has set the stage for us to find our way onto someone's flat screen! Will you do something so mind-numbingly stupid that people will remember you and want to see more of you?

How to Get Famous 301 starts now!

Reality show contestant

Gotta love reality TV. Mindless, manufactured drama which costs the broadcasters very little and doesn't require its viewers to do much thinking.

These people recognize their opportunities. They know that if they can act a big enough fool, that they will get their 15 minutes of fame and maybe even more.

Now, there's nothing "real" about a reality show. When's the last time you went to someone's house and they had 15 people living in it of different gender, race and/or sexual orientation? Mix in nightly trips to the bar with people of the opposite (or sometimes same) sex coming on to you with alcohol-induced flirting and you have instant drama! When you put people in that type of living arrangement, then something is bound to pop off.

That link is one of my favorite funny reality show clips, by the way. Anyhoo, I look at reality shows as a newer, sexier version of daytime soap operas. I remember being at work, a decade ago, and listening to women in the break room discussing "Y&R" or "All My Children". Now, when I enter the break room, it's all about Snooki (what's a "Snooki" anyway?), Nene or whoever. Snooki makes $30k per episode for being obnoxious and a drunk. Some of my readers probably do the same for free. LOL! Stop short-changing yourself! Get paid for those drunken rants you end up blogging about weekly! :)

There have been some talented and successful reality show contestants: Elizabeth Hasselbeck turned "Survivor" into a spot on "The View". Kelly Clarkson used "American Idol" to springboard into a successful music career. Kim Kardashian turned "ho-dom" into "stardom" (I'm sorry, but if you create and release a sex tape of yourself, you're a ho).

So, anyone can grace the cover of multiple magazines or home pages of websites. All you have to do is simply this:

a) Get a spot on a show .
b) Act the biggest donkey known to mankind.

Even a moron could do it! You could be the next big thing!

And when you do, don't forget to give me a shout for helping you learn how to get famous!

YouTube

If you have not seen this guy's video (which has turned this man into a YouTube sensation overnight), then by all means, please click here and be entertained. This was supposed to be a serious story, but given the circumstances that no one was hurt, it's become one of the funnier stories of 2010. It's also turned into financial gain for Antoine who's been remixed into a song (on iTunes), has a doll created in his likeness and has made multiple appearances on talk shows.

This is an example of how a creative idea or an off-the-wall moment can lead to 15 minutes of fame. Making it big via YouTube is just one unfortunate moment away that happens to get caught on film.

So, for those of you who are struggling to get into show business, then struggle no more! Think of a great idea. Something so stupid that people will break their necks to sit in front of a computer just to see it.

If you can't make it to Hollywood, then bring Hollywood to you and "go viral"!
